Iran’s animation ‘The Boot’ to appear at Izmir int’l Short fest

Iranian short animation ‘The Boot’ is to vie at the 24th Izmir Int'l Short Film Festival in Turkey.

Iranian short animation ‘The Boot’ has been listed in the competition lineup of the 24th Izmir International Short Film Festival in Turkey.

Seyyed Mohsen Pourmohseni Shakib’s animation ‘The Boot’ will present Iran at the Panorama section of the 2023 edition of the Turkish film festival, which will take place on May 12-18.

A brief synopsis of the animation says, “A bird in a war-torn city, where there is nothing left but dead bodies, seeks food to feed its baby birds..."

‘The Boot’ has recently participated in the Oscar-qualifying El Festival Internacional de Cine de Lebu (FICIL) in Chile, the 49th Student Academy Awards, the 37th Guadalajara Int’l Film Festival in Mexico as well as the 2022 Animayo: The Int’l Film Festival of Animation, Visual Effects and Video Games in Spain.

The flick is also the nomination winner of the Golden Unicorn at the 37th Alpinale Short Film Festival in Austria.    

The festival is one of the first events that present international awards to short films. It began to show its films in 2000 and since then it has been one of the most esteemed festivals for film enthusiasts.
